Position Overview
The Learning Community of Douglas and Sarpy County is seeking dedicated volunteers to support our mission of enhancing educational opportunities for students and families. Volunteers play a crucial role in assisting with classroom activities, mentorship, community events, administrative support, and special projects. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are passionate about education and community engagement.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteers may be assigned to one or more of the following areas based on their interests and skills:
Classroom Support: Assist teachers with instructional activities, reading programs, and student and parent engagement.
Tutoring & Mentorship: Provide one-on-one or small-group academic support to students.
Event Assistance: Help with organizing and running community events, workshops, and family activities.
Program Operational Support: Assist with clerical tasks, organizing materials, and general operational needs.
Special Projects: Support unique initiatives that arise throughout the school year.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old (or accompanied by a guardian for younger volunteers, if applicable).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
Dependable and committed to fulfilling scheduled volunteer hours.
Must complete a volunteer application and pass background check and drug screening.
Attend an orientation and training session before volunteering.
